Hemp Flour & Hemp Seed Cake

Hemp Flour and Hemp Seed Cake
Hemp flour: Is the by-product after pressing the oil. Hemp seed is approximately 30% oil and 70% residue. The hard pellets or ‘cake ‘ are then finely ground to make the flour. Added to any flour about 15-20%, it gives a spongy nutty texture and flavour with a green hew, makes for a nice loaf of bread. We sell bulk volume only in bag units 50LBS or 2000 LBS tote ideal for commercial bakers.

Hemp flour doesn’t rise, has no gluten. It is not a flour that can be used in bread on it’s own, you would need to mix it with other flours, unless you are making a flat bread or a cracker.

  1. You have some really great ideas about hemp. If you go to http://www.rainhemp.biz They sell hemp flour which can be used alone for your baking needs. Use baking powder and yeast for the rising process.

  2. Question:

You say that hemp flour cannot be used on it’s own, why is that exactly? Simply because it doesn’t rise or are there other reasons as well?

    • Great question Sabine!! We appreciate that one. Hemp flour doesn’t rise, has no gluten and is very hearty and therefore is not a flour that can be used in bread on it’s own, you would need to mix it with other flours, unless you are making a flat bread or a cracker. A 3:1 ratio produces a hearty heavy loaf all the way to a 7:1 ratio which produces basically a loaf of bread with hemp flecks in it.

Want more information on that go to our promotional agency, the girls do a great job with all their hemp relating research! http://www.hempout.com
